Simplified Task Status Options. We have streamlined the Change Task Status dialogue window to include only four status options, reducing unnecessary actions and minimizing errors. The Completed status can be set manually by the project manager via the Accept Tasks dialogue window or automatically if the project uses the Automation option. Clear warnings have been added, and the interface has been updated. The new status options enhance task management: Inactive hides the task from the service provider’s account, Canceled stops the process entirely, and Reverted sends the task back to the previous stage for revision. When the task status is changed, automatic notifications are sent to the service providers.
New Expected Status Available for All Tasks. We have expanded the use of the Expected status, which is now available for all types of tasks, not just the final Delivery stage. This innovation allows the Workflow panel to display only active tasks, excluding those that are simply "waiting." This change simplifies planning and makes the workflow more transparent. Tasks with the Expected status automatically move to the New status once the previous stage iscompleted.
Remuneration for MT Tasks: Single Discount or EDC Sliding Scale. Catmint offers two options for calculating remuneration for editing machine translation: a single discount for all MT or a finely tuned payment for changes made using the EDC (Edit Distance Count) scale. With a single discount, Catmint statistics show the number of automatically translated words, and the project manager can apply the rate that was previously agreed with a service provider, including a discount for MT. Catmint also provides the option of counting the exact number of words edited by the linguist, allowing for fair compensation based on the effort invested. Using the EDC metric, Catming calculates the number of effective new words corresponding to the edits of machine translation. Intensive edits are counted as 100%, while unchanged words are counted as a share of that, corresponding to the rate for proofreading MT without edits. Everything in between is calculated as a simple linear proportion. The project manager can set this rate share between 0% and 40%, in line with the client’s expectations and as agreed with the service provider. This approach helps implement an individualized payment system that reflects the service provider’s efforts and the project’s specific circumstances. It also avoids random discounts, lengthy discussions with service providers, potential refusals due to "bad MT," and overpayments when minimal edits are made. By doing this, Catmint ensures fair remuneration for the service provider and a fair discount for the client, so neither party feels disadvantaged.
